Advertising Privacy Policy

The following declaration explains our privacy policy regarding how we collect information, why we do it, and the rights you have as a recipient of Facebook and LinkedIn ads placed by RISD.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

The Office of Admissions at Rhode Island School of Design gathers information about website visitors in an effort to provide information to prospective students about the college.

We gather this information in three ways:

  1. When you send us an email or complete online forms, we collect your email address, name, email content, and any other information you provide.
  2. Through the use of cookies. Cookies are small files created by a website and stored on a user’s computer in order to allow the website to recognize and provide appropriate information to users; Rhode Island School of Design uses cookies to store your preferences and history on its sites.
  3. Through the automated recognition of information about your operating system, browser, device settings, IP address, and other such data in order to provide a consistent experience across different platforms.

REMOVAL OF COOKIES

There is no legal requirement for you to provide information when you visit our site. If you wish, cookies may be cleared or disabled through adjustment settings on your browser. If you choose to disable cookies, however, some site functions may not operate correctly.

NOTICE ABOUT THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

While Rhode Island School of Design may use data collected to provide you with relevant information about our programs, all data collected is for the institution’s internal use. We do not share any unique information (e.g., name, email address, etc.) with third parties without your consent, unless required or permitted by law.

THIRD-PARTY TRACKING

Third-party cookies used to create targeted advertisements and services may originate from our Facebook or LinkedIn plug-in. Facebook’s and LinkedIn’s privacy policies regarding these sites are created independently of ours, and should be reviewed separately from the statements made here.

Facebook users can disable information collection for ad targeting using services like http://www.aboutads.info/choices.
